Llangynidr Primary School

About us

Our school enjoys a beautiful rural setting in the village of Llangynidr, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

We share a catchment with the well-regarded Crickhowell High School, and you can find us midway between the market towns of Abergavenny and Brecon.

First opened in 1976, the campus is well maintained and provides a light, airy place to learn. Our spacious site offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor play and hands-on learning. We have a library area, and a hall used for assemblies, indoor PE, music, drama and as a dining area.

Outside there is a playing pitch and netball court, large playgrounds with tunnels, a sensory garden, a wildlife corner, vegetable growing area and polytunnel, foundation phase outdoor classroom and forest school.

We share our site with Llangynidr Pre-School who offer nursery places from age two. They also run an After School Club for ages 2-11 between 3.30 and 5.30. Combined with our school-run Breakfast Club, this offers wrap-around childcare for working parents.

We are an English medium school, but include the Welsh language as an integral part of our curriculum and encourage its daily use in and around the school.
